What Is the ASPECT Best Practice Network?

ASPECT Best Practice Network (BPN) is an EU-funded project focused on improving the use of educational content by promoting standards and specifications among learning technology stakeholders, including content providers, standards bodies, and education ministries. It connects universities, colleges, Teaching School Alliances, Multi-Academy Trusts, and Early Years Providers into a single collaborative ecosystem — and has worked with more than 3,500 schools to date.

1Founding role in Outstanding Leaders Partnership

BPN is also a founding member of the Outstanding Leaders Partnership, a cross-sector platform linking leaders, teachers, and development providers.

Programmes and Values

The network's flagship qualifications span the full education career ladder:

Underpinning all programmes are seven stated values: Working Together, Excellence, Individuality, Integrity, Honesty and Openness, Innovation, and Leading by Example. In practice these mean treating every member as an individual, sharing information freely, maintaining high professional standards, and prioritising innovative solutions over simple replication of existing approaches.

Continuous professional development is treated as a prerequisite for better pupil outcomes — not an optional add-on.

Governance and Transparency

BPN operates under published policies covering fairness, appeals, and complaints. Written complaints are handled at first-management level and resolved within three working days in most cases, with a ceiling of twenty days for complex issues. Usage data is stored in non-personally identifiable form and reviewed regularly to inform platform improvements.
